CMOSC Lighting Commission
The Children's Museum of Sonoma County (CMOSC) is giving us a commission to design, fabricate, and install a hanging LED lighting sculpture to be placed underneath a solar array, outdoors in Mary's Garden.
This project will be discussed in class in detail.
Information List
- Budget for materials including LED strip lights, pool noodles, and mounting hardware not to exceed $1500
- Commission of $1500 to the winner, or split among a team
- Three students or teams will receive $100 each as runners-up
- Proposal must be in the form of a maquette and/or drawn
- Jurying will take place on Monday, September 8, 9am
- Juried by Collette Michaud, CEO and Founder of CMOSC, and David Farish, Director of Facilities and Exhibit Production
- Installed by October 19, 2025
- LED strip lights inserted into white pool noodles are the basic mateirals
- Method of hanging must be considered and implemented
- Method of plugging into outdoor existing outlets to be planned for
- At time of install, museum extension cords may be temporarily used to provide power but the museum will be responsible for permanent electrification
- Ladders, scaffold or Skyjack rental provided by CMOSC
- Scouting the location before making a proposal is recommended
